Alex Buysse is an editor and colorist with a sharp eye for visual storytelling and a penchant for the absurd. He specializes in shaping compelling narratives and crafting distinctive visual worlds across documentary, narrative, commercial, and digital media.
After graduating USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, Alex became Lead Editor and Post Supervisor on the upcoming feature documentary Freak Power: Hunter S. Thompson’s Battle for Aspen, where he expanded his expertise in archival editing, digital restoration, and post-production management. He later applied these skills to the preservation and restoration of the Robert E. Fulton III archive, which he now manages.
Whether cutting short films, music videos, branded content, or social media campaigns, Alex approaches each project by uncovering the emotional and narrative core first, building edits designed to engage audiences and elevate material beyond the expected.
As a colorist, he is passionate about refining a project’s visual identity, developing atmosphere, tone, and texture tailored to each story and client’s vision. There is no footage he cannot save.
Alex is also an independent filmmaker whose creative practice informs his post-production work. He co-directed, edited, and colored the sci-fi buddy feature Mr. Yanagi’s Aliens and has filmed live events ranging from an artist conference in the Aspen to a live performance at a buddhist shrine in Japan.
When he’s away from the edit suite, Alex can usually be found backcountry skiing or dragging friends on questionably ambitious hikes.
